Elections Canada

This morning we had a presentation from Elections Manitoba that taught us about our Canadian Government. Stephanie from Elections Manitoba explained to the students the 3 levels of government and their responsibilities. We played a quick game and then held a mock election. We had three new parties who had to present how they would spend $10000 to improve EMU. The Crew 7 party, Education party and the School party. It was a close race but Crew 7 came out as our representative.

Assiniboine Park Zoo

Had a great time at the zoo today and had perfect weather. Got to spend some time seeing the polar bears, seals, foxes, wolves, tigers, camels and a whole lot more. We even got to see dinosaurs at the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit. A peacock even joined us for lunch! "I liked the red fox named Simon, he looked so fluffy!" -- Alyssa "We got to touch the fur of a Muskox, and artic fox and a polar bear." -- Jeyxa "It was a great experience learning what the animals actually go through in their lives." -- Xiomara "The dinosaurs were big, tall and scary." -- Sara

3rd Annual Transcona Community Cleanup

Today we took part in the Transcona Community Cleanup. Crew 206's job was to clean up Memorial Circle Park. Students were given a t-shirt which they get to keep and a glove to handle the garbage. The students did a great job making sure no piece of garbage was left behind and were very cautious when coming across anything they weren't sure about. I was also very proud of my students as they found a few poppies laying in the grass which they returned to the Cenotaph located at the center of the park honouring Transcona's fallen soldiers.
